Description

Crispy falafel made in an air fryer for a healthier Mediterranean twist.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup dried chickpeas (soaked overnight)
  • 1 small onion (chopped)
  • 3 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro (chopped)
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Drain soaked chickpeas and pat dry.
  2. Blend chickpeas, onion, garlic, parsley, cilantro, cumin, coriander, baking soda, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper in a food processor.
  3. Form mixture into small patties.
  4. Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Place falafel patties in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  6. Cook for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway.
  7. Serve warm with tahini sauce or pita bread.

Notes

  • Do not use canned chickpeas—they are too soft.
  • Soak dried chickpeas for at least 12 hours.
  • If mixture is too dry, add 1-2 tbsp water.
  • For extra crispiness, spray falafel lightly with oil before air frying.
