Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 12 drops red food coloring (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons crushed candy canes or peppermint candies

Instructions

  1. Preheat air fryer to 250°F (120°C).
  2. Beat egg whites and cream of tartar in a clean bowl until soft peaks form.
  3. Gradually add sugar while beating until stiff peaks form.
  4. Fold in peppermint extract and food coloring (if using).
  5. Pipe or spoon small mounds onto parchment-lined air fryer tray.
  6. Sprinkle crushed candy canes on top.
  7. Air fry for 45-50 minutes until crisp.
  8. Turn off air fryer and let meringues cool inside for 1 hour.
