- 3 large egg whites
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
- 1–2 drops red food coloring (optional)
- 2 tablespoons crushed candy canes or peppermint candies
Instructions
- Preheat air fryer to 250°F (120°C).
- Beat egg whites and cream of tartar in a clean bowl until soft peaks form.
- Gradually add sugar while beating until stiff peaks form.
- Fold in peppermint extract and food coloring (if using).
- Pipe or spoon small mounds onto parchment-lined air fryer tray.
- Sprinkle crushed candy canes on top.
- Air fry for 45-50 minutes until crisp.
- Turn off air fryer and let meringues cool inside for 1 hour.
Notes
- Ensure bowl and beaters are grease-free for best results.
- Adjust food coloring for desired pink shade.
- Store in an airtight container up to 1 week.
