- 1 large flatbread or pizza crust
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 1 apple, thinly sliced
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella or gouda)
- 1 tbsp fresh thyme leaves
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add onions and cook until soft.
- Sprinkle sugar, salt, and pepper over onions. Stir and cook until caramelized (about 15 minutes).
- Place flatbread on a baking sheet. Spread caramelized onions evenly over it.
- Layer apple slices on top of the onions.
- Sprinkle shredded cheese and thyme leaves over the apples.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until cheese melts and edges are golden.
- Slice and serve warm.
Notes
- Use a sweet apple variety like Honeycrisp or Fuji for best flavor.
- For extra crispiness, pre-bake the flatbread for 3 minutes before adding toppings.
- Add a drizzle of balsamic glaze for extra depth.
