A creamy and comforting dish of thinly sliced potatoes baked in a rich, cheesy sauce.


Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tbsp butter (for greasing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the dish. Sprinkle with half the salt, pepper, thyme, and minced garlic.
  3. Pour half the heavy cream over the potatoes, then sprinkle half the cheeses.
  4. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, seasonings, cream, and cheeses.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  6. Remove foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  7. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use a mandoline for even potato slices.
  • Substitute milk for a lighter version (but less creamy).
  • Add cooked bacon or ham for extra flavor.
