Description
A hearty mac and cheese meatloaf casserole combining two comfort food classics. Layers of cheesy macaroni and seasoned meatloaf bake together for a filling family meal.

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 2 cups cheddar cheese
- 2 cups milk
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, 1/2 cup milk, and Worcestershire sauce for meatloaf.
- Press meat mixture into greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Cook macaroni according to package directions.
- Melt butter, whisk in flour, then gradually add 2 cups milk to make cheese sauce.
- Stir in 1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese until melted.
- Combine cooked macaroni with cheese sauce.
- Spread mac and cheese over meatloaf layer.
- Sprinkle remaining 1/2 cup cheese on top.
- Bake 30 minutes until bubbly.
Notes
- Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
- Ground turkey works instead of beef.
- Add diced onions to meatloaf if desired.
