Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp chili flakes
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 small tortillas
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish
  • Crumbled feta cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add onion and bell pepper, cook until soft (5-7 minutes).
  3. Stir in garlic, cumin, paprika, and chili flakes. Cook for 1 minute.
  4. Pour in crushed tomatoes. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Make 4 wells in the sauce and crack an egg into each.
  6. Cover and cook until eggs are set (5-7 minutes).
  7. Warm tortillas in a dry pan.
  8. Spoon shakshuka onto tortillas. Garnish with cilantro and feta.

Notes

  • Use ripe tomatoes for better flavor.
  • Adjust chili flakes to control spiciness.
  • Serve immediately for best texture.
