Description

Crispy falafel made in an air fryer without oil. A healthy, vegan-friendly alternative to traditional fried falafel.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup dried chickpeas (soaked overnight)
  • 1 small onion (chopped)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 cup fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro (chopped)
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Drain soaked chickpeas and pat dry.
  2. Add chickpeas, onion, garlic, parsley, cilantro, cumin, coriander, baking soda, salt, pepper, and lemon juice to a food processor.
  3. Pulse until mixture is coarse but holds together.
  4. Shape mixture into small patties or balls.
  5. Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Place falafel in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  7. Cook for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.
  8. Serve warm with tahini or hummus.

Notes

  • Do not use canned chickpeas—only dried and soaked.
  • If mixture is too dry, add 1-2 tbsp water.
  • For extra crispiness, spray lightly with oil (optional).
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
